Great significance of monthly income
In the last days of August, besides the National Day holiday plan for September 2nd, Ms. Nguyen Thi An (Hanoi) also began to pay attention to the September pension schedule.
For many years, pensions have been a regular income that helps her proactively cover daily living expenses. Therefore, although she is used to receiving salaries every month, she still has a psychology of waiting every time the payment period comes.
“Previously, I usually received pensions in cash, in recent years I switched to receiving them through accounts, which is much more convenient. Whenever the payment date approaches, I pay attention to my phone to see if the money has arrived yet. Pensions are a stable monthly income, so I often rely on it to balance food, electricity, water and household expenses,” Ms. An shared.
This September, the payment period coincided with the National Day holiday, so Ms. An was even more concerned about the time to receive the money to proactively plan spending.
Also looking forward to the September salary, Mr. Le Van Toan (Son Tay ward, Hanoi) said that he still maintains the form of receiving pensions in cash.
Every month when the salary date is approaching, I look forward to it. I am old, the expenses are not much, but the cost of food, living expenses, especially medicine every month, still has to be calculated. Knowing the exact salary date helps us be more proactive," Mr. Toan said.
For the elderly with low pensions and this is almost the main source of income, the amount of money received regularly each month is even more meaningful.
Ms. Vuong Thi Nga (Hanoi) said that since quitting her job, she has tried to balance her daily life within the scope of her pension to limit having to rely on the support of her children.
My pension is not high, but this is the main and most regular monthly income. I usually spend a part on food, electricity, water, a part on buying medicine and try to save a little for emergencies. My children are still interested, but I want to take care of my own daily life as much as possible. With regular pensions, elderly people like us feel more secure and proactive in life," Ms. Nga shared.

September pension is paid after the National Day holiday
Information from Vietnam Social Security said that the time for paying pensions and social insurance allowances for September 2026 in provinces and cities is expected to be later than the normal schedule because the first days of the month coincide with the National Day holiday on September 2.
This year, officials, civil servants, public employees and laborers have 5 consecutive days off on National Day holiday, from Saturday, August 29th to the end of Wednesday, September 2nd.
According to the monthly social insurance payment schedule through personal accounts, 21 provinces and cities will make payments on the first working day of the month. Due to holidays, the first working day after the holiday is Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The remaining 13 provinces and cities will make payments through accounts on the second working day, corresponding to September 4, 2026.
In Hanoi, Hanoi Social Insurance said that pensions and social insurance allowances through personal accounts are usually transferred on the second working day of the month. Due to the September payment schedule coinciding with the National Day holiday, the social insurance agency will transfer money to the beneficiary's personal account on Friday, September 4, 2026.
For cash recipients, the payment schedule is organized according to a specific plan in each locality. Beneficiaries need to follow the notice of the social insurance agency and the payment support organization in the locality to know the exact time to receive money.
The September payment schedule has changed a few days due to holidays, causing retirees to wait longer than usual. However, for them, pensions are still the expected monthly income, helping the elderly to be more proactive in their lives and have more peace of mind when they have left the labor market.
