On September 13, information from Phuoc Nang Commune Police (Da Nang City) said that the unit had just completed procedures to hand over child A.Q. (13 years old, residing in Dak Be village, Ngoc Linh commune, Quang Ngai province) to his family after many days of losing contact.
Previously, in the afternoon of September 12, during patrols and inspections of areas at risk of landslides and flash floods on the Ho Chi Minh route (section passing through Ka Toi village, Phuoc Nang commune), the Phuoc Nang Commune Police task force discovered Q. walking silently alone in heavy rain and dangerous mountainous terrain.
Quickly approaching and asking about her, the functional forces were moved to learn that Q. was on her way to find her mother, Ms. Y.H. (34 years old). Immediately, officers and soldiers took her to the commune police headquarters to rest, take care of her health, provide food and drinks, and verify information about relatives.
Despite the stormy weather conditions and high risk of landslides on mountain roads, Phuoc Nang Commune Police urgently coordinated with relevant units to contact the baby's family. In the evening of the same day (September 12), baby Q.'s family was present at the commune police headquarters to pick up the baby.
Moved by the timely and humane actions of the police force, the representative of Q.'s family wrote a letter of deep gratitude to Phuoc Nang Commune Police.
In the letter, the family shared that because they missed their mother who was working as a hired laborer in Phuoc Nang commune, Q. voluntarily left home on September 7. For the past week, the family has been extremely worried, spreading out everywhere to search but without information. The family was extremely surprised and shocked to learn that their young son had walked more than 100km through the dangerous mountain pass area.
