Many lakes and dams in Ha Tinh discharge floodwater to respond to floods

Ha Tinh - Responding to rain and floods caused by the impact of the tropical depression in Ha Tinh, many dams and reservoirs are being regulated to discharge floodwater.

According to Ha Tinh Irrigation One Member Limited Liability Company, from 9:00 AM on September 13th, the unit has regulated discharge from Boc Nguyen reservoir with a flow rate of 5m3/s. Depending on weather diễn biến, the discharge flow rate at this reservoir may increase to 60m3/s.

To ensure safety for people and property of people in downstream areas, Ha Tinh Irrigation One Member Limited Liability Company requests the People's Committees of Cam Due, Cam Xuyen, Cam Hung, Thach Xuan, Toan Luu, Thach Ha communes... to urgently notify, urge, and guide people to implement safety measures and be ready to respond.

Previously, Kim Son Lake and Thuong Song Tri Lake began discharging from 10 am on September 12, with a flow rate of 5 - 60m3/s. Tau Voi Lake discharged from 8 am on September 13, with a flow rate of 3 - 40m3/s.

By 9:00 AM on September 13th, Kim Son Lake was regulated for discharge with a flow rate of 10 m3/s, Thuong Song Tri Lake with a flow rate of 6 m3/s and Khe Xai Lake with a flow rate of 5 m3/s.

Ho Ho Hydropower Plant operates water discharge from 10 PM on September 11th, with a flow rate of 50 - 400m3/s.

On September 12, the Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch requesting localities and units to urgently deploy response plans, setting a goal to ensure the safety of people's lives and minimize property damage.

According to Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station, from morning to night on September 13, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the province, with common rainfall of 100 - 200mm, in some places over 350mm.

From the evening of September 13th, the coastal area of Ha Tinh will gradually have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8. Strong winds can cause roofs to be blown off, temporary structures to be damaged, green trees and billboards to be broken; affecting electricity, communication and traffic systems.

Forecast to 7:00 AM on September 14, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of 10 - 15km/h, entering the mainland area of Ha Tinh and northern Quang Tri. Wind force level 6, gusts level 8.

On the day and night of September 14, Ha Tinh province will continue to have heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 100 - 200mm, in some places over 250mm. On the day and night of September 15, rain will decrease to 30 - 60mm, in some places over 100mm. The heavy rain period is likely to last until the morning of September 16.

Heavy rain can cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas. People need to be wary of thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind during the time of tropical depression.
