According to the reporter's records, since morning, police and market management forces have been present at Aroma Beach restaurant (Nguyen Thien Thuat street, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa).
Here, the authorities worked with the owner of the restaurant. This restaurant also removed its sign this morning.
The restaurant owner, Mr. Ho Van Tam, confirmed that the bill that the customer presented was from the restaurant. However, Mr. Tam explained, "The group of guests ordered a meal for 15 to 20 people, so the money was generous. The amount on the bill and the actual amount the restaurant received was only half."
Mr. Tam also confirmed that he has been actively cooperating with the authorities since the afternoon of February 4.
After receiving information at Aroma Nha Trang restaurant, the police also invited Mr. Tam to the ward to work according to regulations.
The menu at the restaurant on the morning of February 5 shows that the price of a plate of grilled eggplant with scallion oil is listed at 189,000 VND, stir-fried water spinach with garlic is priced at 199,000 VND... The prices listed on the dishes are handwritten and pasted.
However, many diners believe that the price of the above vegetables is also high compared to the common ground.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Permanent Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association confirmed that he had received the information and was very upset to read this information spreading on the internet.
According to Mr. Nhut, Nha Trang City is currently verifying and handling the case, so we are waiting for a thorough response from the authorities. However, the Association and Mr. Nhut's personal opinion is to resolutely eliminate and strictly handle food and beverage establishments and service providers that engage in unfair business practices and "rip off" tourists, especially those who take advantage of the holidays.
“Initially, there was information that the real owner behind this establishment is a foreigner, so we have to wait for the authorities to confirm. However, with the invoice for a plate of grilled eggplant with scallion oil for 1,890,000 VND... the 'huge' price has spread on the internet, making the image of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism worse. This is a pity while the whole community is making efforts to build Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa as a safe, quality and attractive tourist destination" - Mr. Nhat shared.
Previously, on the afternoon of February 4, on the social networking site "Nha Trang - Review everything" spread images of Aroma Beach restaurant charging sky-high prices to foreign customers.
According to author M.H, while surfing a foreign website, he came across a customer's post complaining about being charged a high price by a restaurant.
In the bill posted by this customer on Chinese social media, 2 grilled eggplants with scallion oil cost nearly 3.8 million VND, 2 balut eggs cost 700,000 VND, 2 stir-fried water spinach with garlic cost 1 million VND... Not only was the price "sky-high", the restaurant also charged an additional 4 million VND.
As soon as this information was spread, many people were upset with the high prices of the dishes listed on the bill. The restaurant owner said that the bill was over 20 million but in reality the restaurant only received about 10 million.
The Tet surcharge of more than 4 million VND is for alcohol, cigarettes, beer, and tea brought into the shop by customers and was negotiated by both parties from the beginning.
