Phu Tho - Yen Thuy Commune Police said they have promptly prevented the risk of fraud when people make online passports.

According to Yen Thuy Commune Police, while assisting people in carrying out administrative procedures, the Task Force discovered Ms. B.T. H. (born 1997, residing in Trung Ha village, Yen Thuy commune) contacting an account on social networks to hire a passport.

This account advertises to receive passport issuance procedures with a fee of 1.5 million VND.

Recognizing that this form poses a risk of fraud and leakage of personal information, commune police officers promptly explained and guided Ms. H. not to transfer money or provide personal data to unidentified accounts.

The commune police officer also guided Ms. H. to carry out passport issuance procedures through the Public Service Portal in accordance with regulations.

Directly instructed, Ms. H. completed the registration steps in just about 10 minutes.

She also chose to receive her passport at home, without having to hire an intermediary service and not having to pay a fee of 1.5 million VND.

Sharing after completing the procedures, Ms. H. said that she had been propagated about making an online passport before but thought the process was complicated. Due to not being proficient in technology and being busy with work, she intended to hire services on social networks.

However, after being guided by commune police officers, she found the procedure quite simple, quick and could be done on her own.

From the above incident, Yen Thuy Commune Police recommends that people be cautious with social media accounts advertising to receive passport applications, especially in cases of requesting prepayment or paying high fees.

When there is a need to renew or reissue a common passport, people should do it through official channels. In case the operation is not clear, they can go to the Commune Police for guidance and support.
