Gia Lai - Commune police force increases night patrols in villages, where there are many potential risks of crime and social evils.

Proactively preventing crimes early and from afar

Maintaining night patrols not only contributes to reducing violations of the law, but also creates peace of mind for people in daily life and production.

Ia Pa commune is one of the typical areas where night patrols have been tightened recently. This is a new commune merged from three communes of Ia Trom, Ia Mron and Kim Tan, with a natural area of over 103 km2 and a population of nearly 31,000 people. The large area, large and scattered population makes the pressure to ensure security and order much greater than before, requiring the commune police force to maintain continuous patrols, not allowing hot spots for law violations to occur.

According to the representative of Ia Pa Commune Police, night patrols have become a key and regular task. Working groups are deployed to patrol complex areas such as night markets, restaurants, deserted roads, and locations where young people often gather. Thanks to this proactiveness, the authorities have promptly detected and handled many acts of disturbing public order at night.

In Blom village, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Ksor Bluynh village said: Since the commune police increased the frequency of night patrols, the number of young people gathering to drink alcohol, cause noise or use motorbikes with a low efficiency has decreased significantly. People feel a clear change in the living environment, feel more secure in working and resting than before.

Along with the patrol, the commune police also inspected businesses such as karaoke bars, night-time restaurants and accommodation establishments. In cases of illegal business, overtime activities, and gathering of customers causing disorder, they are reminded and recorded when necessary. Checking the accommodation at night also helps detect strangers, people with wanted warrants or suspected criminals in hiding. Thanks to that, the risk of crime arising from sensitive locations is significantly reduced.

Strictly handle traffic violations, prevent gatherings that cause disorder

Throughout Gia Lai province, communes and wards are simultaneously increasing patrols to prevent young people from violating road traffic laws. At the end of the year, when social activities take place more vibrantly, control work is tightened.

Typically, on November 30, while patrolling in Hra commune, the working group discovered a group of about 28 teenagers (born from 2007 to 2010) gathering in the area of Jo Long dam, Bok Aiol. This group used motorbikes running at high speed, exchanging speed, weaving and showed signs of preparing to film clips, livestream on Facebook, TikTok to attract views. Many students are not old enough to drive according to regulations, posing a great risk of traffic accidents.

The police force has made a list of all cases to handle and coordinate with families and schools in education. This is a measure to help teenagers clearly understand the dangers and consequences of illegal gathering to race.

Previously, Mang Yang Commune Police also initiated a case and prosecuted three subjects: Ket (born 2008), Vur (born 2006) and Yuin (born 2005), residing in Bong Hiot village (Mang Yang commune), for disturbing public order. This group drove motorbikes with revved acceleration, revved the engine, speeding, and turned around many times on Ly Thai To Street, causing public outrage and challenging the authorities. This is considered a strong deterrent for other cases.

Local police affirmed: acts of filming clips, livestreaming while driving, inciting others to gather to race or performing adventurously will all be strictly handled according to the law.

Protecting agricultural products, keeping a peaceful life for ethnic minority areas

In addition to handling violations of traffic and urban order, the police force of communes in key coffee growing communes such as Ia Grai, Ia Hrung, Chu Pah, Chu Se, Ia Bang, Chu Prong... also focus on night patrols to protect agricultural products during the harvest season.

During the coffee crop, theft of agricultural products often increases. Many households in disadvantaged areas have to stay up all night to work in the fields, which is very difficult. Therefore, the presence of the commune police force and mixed patrol teams has become an important support.

Patrol teams regularly check inter-village routes, rice fields, warehouses for coffee and agricultural products. Many "hot spots" for agricultural product theft have been identified for monitoring, making prevention more proactive and effective.

Thanks to that, from October to now, authorities in many localities have detected and handled many cases of young people addicted to flooding gathering in coffee plantations in the middle of the night with suspicious signs. Some small thefts were stopped in time, and many assets were recovered and returned to the people.

People said that in the past, they were often worried about theft during harvest season, but now, the frequent appearance of commune police at night helps them feel more secure, not having to stay up all night to look after agricultural products.

Commune police in localities determine that to maintain sustainable security and order, there needs to be the cooperation of the people. Therefore, the authorities actively propagate and mobilize people to raise vigilance and manage their children, especially in the evenings and on weekends. Many self-management models, inter-family groups and mediation groups are encouraged to promote their role to contribute to protecting villages and hamlets.

Thanks to the synchronous coordination between the police force and the people, the security and order situation in many communes in Gia Lai province has changed significantly. Night patrols not only bring peace, but also create a stable living environment, contribute to socio-economic development and improve the lives of ethnic minority areas.
