On June 28, information from the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Construction (the investor) said that the Dong Ha bypass road project section from Km741+170/QL1 (Doc Mieu) to Km10+187/QL9 to Cua Viet port is entering the decisive sprint stage.
The project has a total length of 13.3km with a total investment of 415,960 million VND from the state budget. According to the plan, the project implementation time will end at the end of the second quarter of 2026 (ie June 30 this year).
Approved in 2022 and started in early 2024, the project was originally expected to be completed in 2024 but had to be extended due to prolonged problems with site clearance (GPMB). It was not until recently that these bottlenecks were thoroughly resolved by the locality, helping to complete the handover of 100% of clean ground (13.3/13.3km). Site clearance delayed close to the end date of the project forced construction units to enter a breathtaking race against time.
Real-world records at the construction site show that the actual volume of the entire project has now reached more than 97%. The main items of the main route, including the roadbed, asphalt paving, painted lines and the system of traffic signs and markers, have been completed. All forces and equipment are being focused on the final items at the intersection with National Highway 1 (Doc Mieu) and the intersection with DT. 575A.
Especially at the National Highway 1 intersection, the construction atmosphere is extremely urgent. Contractors have mobilized a large amount of equipment including more than 20 construction machines (excavators, bulldozers, rollers, leveling machines...) and 25 transport vehicles. Under the scorching hot weather, more than 35 workers and machine drivers are still trying to stick to work to construct the road surface foundation item.
Notably, when night fell, the high-pressure lights on the construction site were still brightly lit, engineers and workers were still working hard through the night to compensate for the delay due to site clearance issues before.
The completion and commissioning of the Dong Ha bypass project on June 30th not only helps relieve traffic pressure for the urban center, but also creates an important boost to connect infrastructure from National Highway 1 to Cua Viet seaport, maximizing the efficiency of public investment capital.
