According to the information obtained, the project of anti-landslide at the Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School - Trung Lý (located in Trung Lý Commune, Mường Lát District, Thanh Hóa Province) has been implemented for many years, however, after multiple implementations, the project was still in a state of landslide.
In a discussion about the above-mentioned issue, Mr. Ngân Văn Lon - Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Lý Commune, Mường Lát District, Thanh Hóa Province confirmed that previously, the anti-landslide project at this school had been implemented 4 times. Subsequently, in November 2023, the project was implemented for the 5th time.
“The 5th project is considered the largest, with a total investment of over 5 billion VND, with the People's Committee of Trung Lý Commune as the investor, and An Phát Company as the contractor. According to the plan, the project was scheduled to be completed by May 2024, however, in April 2024, the commune inspected and found that some components did not meet the requirements, so they requested the contractor to rework” - Mr. Lon stated.
After the contractor completed the required components, in May 2024, a large rainstorm occurred, and the project was again affected by subsidence, landslide, and damage. “After the incident, the commune reported to the Mường Lát District People's Committee, and it is expected that in September 2024, the contractor will proceed with repairs” - a representative of the People's Committee of Trung Lý Commune informed.
According to the on-site observation as of early August 2024, the project's components have been basically completed. However, after the heavy rain, the concrete structure has subsided, and the face of the dam has peeled off.
