On August 29, Lao Cai Provincial Police informed that the Traffic Police Department issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against the drivers and vehicle owners of 2 passenger cars.
Accordingly, at about 4:30 am on August 24, at Km114+450 National Highway 4D, in the area of Ta Phin commune, Road Traffic Police Team No. 1, Traffic Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police organized patrols and inspections of passenger transport vehicles.
Through inspection, functional forces discovered 2 passenger cars running long-distance routes, each car carrying more than 8 people compared to the number of people allowed to be carried.
For each violating vehicle, the driver is fined 12 million VND for the act of carrying more people than prescribed. The vehicle owner is also fined 48 million VND for handing over the vehicle or allowing the driver to commit the violation.
Car with license plate 25F, driven by H.M.H. (born in 1979, residing in Hoang Cuong commune, Phu Tho province) and car with license plate 25B, driven by N.V.D. (born in 1983, residing in Muong Than commune, Lai Chau province).
According to the Traffic Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police, carrying more people than prescribed not only violates the law but also poses a potential risk of unsafety for passengers, especially when vehicles travel on mountainous roads with many curves such as National Highway 4D.
When the vehicle is overloaded, the space on the vehicle is narrowed, passengers find it difficult to move and escape in an emergency situation becomes more difficult.
This situation can also affect the driver's ability to handle situations.
