On the morning of May 20, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security said that on May 19, traffic police forces of local police simultaneously strengthened inspections and handled violations of traffic safety and order on railway lines and level crossings.
Accordingly, on May 19, functional forces deployed 64 working groups with 168 turns of officers and soldiers to participate in inspecting and handling violations (37 officers and soldiers were disguised to record actual violations).
Through inspection, functional forces handled 71 violations, including 5 cars, 65 motorbikes and 1 bicycle; and implemented remote fines for 4 cases.
The main violations focus on errors that pose a risk of particularly serious accidents such as crossing the level crossing when the red light has been turned on but the barrier has not been lowered, intentionally passing when the barrier is lowered or stopping the vehicle within the railway traffic safety zone.
Statistics from the Traffic Police Department show that there are 11 cases of crossing level crossings when the red light turns on, 2 cases of intentionally passing when the barrier is lowered. These are all acts that have had their penalties increased sharply from May 15, 2026 (Decree 81/2026/ND-CP takes effect).
In addition, there were 49 cases of vehicle stopping within the railway traffic safety zone and 10 other violations.

Some localities with a high number of cases handled include Ho Chi Minh City with 13 cases, Khanh Hoa 11 cases, Da Nang 8 cases, Hanoi 7 cases and Ninh Binh 5 cases.
Notably, on the same day, the railway industry continued to coordinate to provide 5 more violations for functional forces to verify and handle.
The Traffic Police Department believes that the railway level crossing area always has a potential risk of particularly serious accidents. Just one subjective act such as intentionally overtaking when the warning signal has been turned on, weaving through the barrier or stopping in the safety corridor can also lead to serious consequences for themselves and many others.
Functional forces recommend that traffic participants absolutely comply with traffic lights, warning bells and instructions from railway crossing guards; stop in front of the stop line when there is a train signal; do not stop, park or turn around in the safe railway area and proactively give way to railway vehicles in accordance with regulations.
A minute's delay is better than risking your life" - the Traffic Police Department emphasized, while calling on people to raise awareness when crossing railway crossings to protect their own safety and the community.
