In September 2026, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee signed a document responding to voters' opinions and recommendations sent to the 2nd Session of the 8th Provincial People's Council, term 2026 - 2031.
According to the proposal of voters in Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province, it is proposed to study and implement a project to build an underpass in the Ma Vong area to contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the area.
Responding to this proposal, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that the project to invest in building an underpass at Ma Vong intersection is large in scale, technically complex and of great significance in solving the frequent congestion situation in the intersection area.
This situation is particularly noteworthy during peak hours and during the time of closing Le Hong Phong street to serve trains entering and leaving Nha Trang Station.
Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee believes that the project investment needs to be carefully studied in terms of planning, transportation needs, investment efficiency, capital sources and related technical conditions.
On February 5, 2026, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee directed the task of preparing a Report proposing investment policy for the Ma Vong roundabout intersection project.
Accordingly, the Provincial Development Project Management Board is assigned to be the investor, organizing the preparation of a Report proposing investment policy for the project.
After being assigned the task, the Provincial Development Project Management Board coordinated with the Department of Construction and relevant agencies to study and evaluate the options.
In which, the plan to build a direct underpass in the direction of 23/10 road connecting Yersin road was also studied.
Initial results show that this option has the ability to reduce traffic conflicts, improve traffic capacity and contribute to reducing congestion in the Ma Vong area.
However, the Provincial People's Committee said that it is still necessary to continue to review and comprehensively assess the issues before organizing the project implementation.
To comprehensively assess the impacts of the project, the Provincial People's Committee is assigning the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Development Project Management Board and relevant agencies and units to continue reviewing and researching.
The content focuses on the conformity with approved plans, investment efficiency, the impact of the railway line and Nha Trang Station on regional traffic organization, future traffic needs and other economic and technical factors.
The review aims to ensure that the researched plan is feasible, effective and suitable to actual conditions.
Currently, the Department of Construction is coordinating with the Provincial Development Project Management Board and relevant agencies and units to continue to complete the research content according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
