On August 27, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that the highest goal is not to fine a lot, but to prevent accidents and form a sense of self-discipline in law compliance.
Keeping a safe distance helps the driver have enough time and space to handle when the vehicle in front slows down or encounters unexpected situations; and at the same time limits chain collisions and prolonged traffic jams on the highway.
The Traffic Police Department appreciates people's contributions to ensuring traffic order and safety; thereby joining hands to raise awareness of law compliance, prevent, control and reduce traffic accidents, limit damage to people and property, contributing to building a safe and civilized traffic environment for the peaceful life of the people.
Currently, the traffic police force records and handles acts of not keeping a safe distance from cars running in front on the same lane, in the same direction at expressway sections with clear and transparent traffic organization, with safety distance markings and cameras recording violation clips and images.
Vehicle drivers need to regularly observe and proactively maintain a suitable distance from the vehicle in front. Especially, when it rains, it is foggy, the road surface is slippery, visibility is limited or vehicle density increases, it is necessary to reduce speed and increase safety distance, absolutely do not follow the vehicle in front.
On the highway, vehicles moving at high speed, just a moment of distraction or maintaining an inappropriate distance can also cause the driver to not be able to handle it in time, leading to chain collisions with serious consequences.
The National Day holiday of September 2nd is approaching, the travel demand of people and vehicle traffic on highways are forecast to increase. The Traffic Police Department recommends that each driver:
Adhere to speed and safe distance with cars running in front; Do not tailgate, do not change lanes suddenly, do not overtake recklessly;
Proactively reduce speed, increase distance when weather conditions, road surface or visibility are not guaranteed; Focus on observing, complying with the road traffic sign system and instructions of functional forces.
Keeping a distance is not only to avoid being penalized, but first of all to protect your own life, your loved ones and those who participate in traffic.
