Two passenger car drivers were recorded for not keeping a safe distance from the car running in front on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 expressway.

On the afternoon of August 26, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that on the same morning, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 3, Road and Railway Traffic Patrol and Control Guidance Department - Traffic Police Department made records of 2 passenger car drivers violating regulations on safe distance with vehicles running immediately before when traveling on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 expressway.

Accordingly, the first case is Mr. Nguyen V. D (born in 1984, residing in Hai Thinh commune, Ninh Binh province), driving a 24-seater passenger car with license plate 18H-038. XX.

The second case is Mr. Nguyen V.T (born in 1981, residing in Hai Xuan commune, Ninh Binh province), driving a 24-seater passenger car with license plate 18H-063. XX.

Both drivers were recorded for the act of not complying with regulations on safe distance for vehicles running immediately before traveling on the highway.

According to current regulations, for this act, each driver will be fined from 4 - 6 million VND and deduct 2 points from the driver's license.

The Traffic Police Department notes that keeping a safe distance when traveling on the highway is not only to avoid being fined but more importantly to create enough time for vehicle drivers to handle when the vehicle in front slows down or unexpected situations occur.

Driving in accordance with regulations, keeping distance and controlling speed contributes to ensuring safety for vehicle drivers and other traffic participants.

According to the Traffic Police Department, in conditions where the road surface is dry, without fog, the road surface is not slippery, the terrain is flat, the road is straight and visibility is guaranteed, the safe distance is determined corresponding to the vehicle speed.

When the speed is 60km/h, the minimum safe distance is 35m; over 60km/h to 80km/h is 55m; over 80km/h to 100km/h is 70m; over 100km/h to 120km/h is 100m.

However, in case of increased vehicle traffic or congestion due to an incident in front, the regulation does not require vehicle drivers running below 60km/h to maintain a fixed distance.

Accordingly, drivers running at speeds below 60km/h must proactively maintain a safe distance suitable for vehicles running in front. This distance depends on the density of vehicles and the actual traffic situation to ensure traffic safety.
