Earlier, at around 9am this morning (September 11), the Waterway Traffic Police Task Force was performing flood prevention and control duties at Tan De Bridge (My Tan Commune, Nam Dinh City) when it discovered a fish raft drifting on the Red River. The task force quickly used 2 motorboats and mobilized a number of fishing boats in the area to help.
At around 10am the same day, the authorities brought the fish raft to a safe anchor on the banks of the Red River, in Bach Thuan commune (Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province); ensuring the safety of people and property.
It is known that the 3 people on the fish raft are father, mother and son in the same family, residing in Tran Hung Dao commune (Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province).
Mr. Nguyen Van Vung (owner of the drifting fish raft) said that at around 4am this morning, his family's fish raft consisting of 9 cages with about 7 tons of various types of fish broke its anchor rope and drifted on the Red River. When they reached the Tan De bridge area, they were fortunately rescued by the authorities.
Currently, Nam Dinh province is making efforts to prevent flooding, reinforce weak dykes, and along with ensuring smooth traffic on roads, waterways, and railways in the flood conditions after storm No. 3, the Traffic Police Department also plays the role of the Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Shock Team of the Provincial Police.
