Due to the impact of storm No. 3 and prolonged heavy rain, flood water on the Red River is rising, directly threatening the Hong Long dike (My Tan commune, Nam Dinh city) and the safety of people living in the dike area.
In addition, more than 150 hectares of flower growing area of My Tan flower village people were flooded and submerged in water.
According to information from the Nam Dinh Province Hydrometeorological Station on emergency flood news on rivers in Nam Dinh Province, as of 8:00 a.m. today (September 11), the water level of the Dao River at the Nam Dinh Hydrometeorological Station was 4.83m (0.53m above alert level III); the Ninh Co River at the Truc Phuong Station was 3.38m (0.78m above alert level III); the Day River at the Ninh Binh Station was 3.76m (0.26m above alert level III), at Phu Ly it was 4.94m (0.94m above alert level III); the Red River at the Tien Duc Station was 6.25m (0.05m below alert level III).
Water levels on rivers are forecast to continue to rise and may peak at noon to late afternoon yesterday (September 11), flood amplitude 2 - 3m, flood depth on riverbank alluvial land 0.5 - 1.5m.
With the flood forecast to peak on the Red River at noon today (September 11), Nam Dinh City has mobilized local forces including 130 officers and soldiers from the City Police; 30 officers and soldiers from the City Military Command and the militia of My Tan commune, Loc Ha ward to pack 10,000 sandbags to prepare for dike protection. At the same time, functional forces are on duty to closely monitor the flood situation to promptly respond to arising situations.
Also this morning, Nam Dinh City Police went to help evacuate people in dangerous areas at high risk of flooding to safety.
