On the morning of July 25, Da Nang City inaugurated and put into use Dong No 2 bridge across the Co Co River. The project invested by Sun Group, worth more than 128 billion VND, is expected to relieve some traffic pressure at the southern gateway of the city.
The bridge is 128.7m long, consisting of 3 spans, the bridge deck is 14.5m wide, connecting Dong No island with Chuong Duong road, thereby forming an additional connecting axis from Hoa Quy, Hoa Xuan area to Da Nang center.
The project was implemented from December 2025 and completed in less than 8 months. This is also the 12th bridge across the Co Co River in Da Nang City today, contributing to reducing the travel distance between residential areas on both sides of the river.
In recent years, the rapid urbanization rate in the southern center of Da Nang has caused the number of vehicles on roads to increase sharply. Meanwhile, the number of routes connecting directly across rivers is still limited.
People from the Hoa Quy and Ngu Hanh Son areas when entering the city center mainly have to go through Bo Quan bridge or Hoa Xuan bridge. During rush hour, the Hoa Xuan bridge intersection area is often under great pressure, vehicles are congested on the access roads to the bridge.
Putting Dong No 2 bridge into use creates an additional traffic direction through Chuong Duong street - a route connecting many bridges along the Han River, Co Co River and roads to the sea.
The project is expected to help disperse traffic flow, shorten the travel distance of a part of the people in the South, and at the same time support trade and transportation of goods between residential areas on both sides of the river.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee - said that this is a traffic project of significance for the development of urban space in the Southeast of the city.
According to Ms. Thi, the bridge not only connects the two banks of the river but also increases access between residential areas, urban areas, service centers and new development spaces.
The opening of Dong No 2 bridge helps strengthen the connection between the southern area and the center, reduces the load on Hoa Xuan bridge and is consistent with the city's multi-polar urban development orientation," Ms. Thi said.
