According to Da Nang City People's Committee, in the past 5 years, the leadership and direction of the task of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains and identifying martyrs' remains has lacked information and has been deployed synchronously, identified as an important political task with profound humanistic meaning.

In the period 2021-2026, the city organized 42 searches and gathered 93 sets of martyrs' remains; organized memorials and burials in accordance with regulations; prepared dossiers and moved 114 sets of martyrs' remains according to family wishes.
Collected and processed over 2,500 pieces of information; organized over 100 surveys, developed search plans at 1,432 points suspected of having martyrs' graves.
The work of reviewing and updating martyr grave information is being implemented at 151 cemeteries; including 2 city-level cemeteries, 149 commune-level and ward-level cemeteries with a total of 73,078 martyr graves.
Specifically, 28,735 graves have full information; 16,956 graves have partial information; 27,376 graves have unidentified information (2,269 graves have been sampled).
The city has guided and introduced DNA testing samples for 807 cases, including taking samples according to relatives' wishes for over 300 cases; issued 50 letters of recommendation for moving martyrs' remains; issued over 400 martyr grave confirmation letters; received and responded to over 200 petitions.
The city excavated 1,117 martyrs' graves without information and missing information in some localities to take DNA testing samples, and handed over to the Department of People with Meritorious Services over 500 martyr remains samples.
Besides the achieved results, this work still faces some difficulties such as increasingly scarce information sources, changing locations, human resources not meeting requirements, and limited DNA testing sample quality.
Accordingly, Da Nang city strives to search for and repatriate 390 sets of remains of martyrs by July 27, 2027; complete the sampling for DNA testing for cases where identities have not been identified; and continue to clear bombs and mines, explosives in key areas to serve the search and repatriation work.
The City People's Committee requests to continue reviewing, completing, supplementing and issuing a new system of related documents to ensure synchronization and unity in implementation.
At the same time, review, adjust, and supplement the assignment of tasks and operating regulations of the Steering Committee and related forces in the direction of clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, and improving coordination efficiency.
It is proposed that units clearly define political determination, strongly launch movements throughout society, create consensus, and mobilize the active participation of organizations and individuals, especially in providing information about martyrs and martyrs' graves.
In which, it is necessary to especially attach importance to exploiting information from witnesses, considering this as a key factor to improve the effectiveness of search and gathering work.
