Mr. Tran Duc Thang holds the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee

    Member of the Politburo, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang was transferred, assigned, and appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

    On the afternoon of April 8, the Hanoi City Party Committee held a Conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work.

    Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc, and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended the decision awarding ceremony.

    At the conference, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Organization Committee Hoang Trung Dung announced the Politburo's decision on personnel work.

    According to the decision of the Politburo, Mr. Tran Duc Thang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Agriculture and Environment will no longer participate in the Executive Committee of the Government Party Committee.

    Mr. Tran Duc Thang was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee of the XVIII term, term 2025 - 2030.

    Mr. Tran Duc Thang was born in 1973, from Vinh Phuc province (now Phu Tho province), with a doctorate degree.

    Working process:

    - Before October 2018: Deputy Director, then Director of the Department of Public Asset Management, Ministry of Finance.

    - October 2018: Member of the 12th Central Inspection Committee.

    - Year 2020: Deputy Chairman of the 12th Central Inspection Committee.

    - January 30, 2021: Member of the 13th Party Central Committee, term 2021 - 2026.

    - January 31, 2021: Member of the Central Inspection Committee of the XIII term.

    - February 2021: Deputy Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, XIII term.

    - October 2022 - June 2025: Member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee for the term 2020 - 2025.

    - July 1, 2025 - July 17, 2025: Member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

    - July 17, 2025 - October 25, 2025: Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment.

    - October 25, 2025: The National Assembly approves the appointment to hold the position of Minister of Agriculture and Environment for the term 2021 - 2026.

    - January 22, 2026: At the 14th National Party Congress, elected as a member of the 14th Party Central Committee for the term 2026 - 2031.

    - January 23, 2026: At the first Conference of the 14th Party Central Committee, elected to the Politburo.
