Strong transformation in universal health care
On the morning of April 5, at Thong Nhat Park (Hanoi), the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission coordinated with the Ministry of Health to organize a rally to launch the National Health Day (April 7) with the theme "Proactive disease prevention - For a healthy Vietnam".
Previously, the Politburo decided to take April 7 every year as the All People's Health Day. This is not just a movement-based activity, but a major strategic orientation, strongly shifting from the thinking of "healing is the main thing" to disease prevention as the focus, fundamental, and long-term; putting people's health at the center of all development policies.
In recent years, the health sector and the whole society have achieved many very important achievements in caring for and improving people's health. However, the disease structure is changing rapidly, non-communicable diseases are increasing, population aging is taking place strongly, and the risk of new epidemics is always latent.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that National Health Day is of special significance, marking a shift in thinking and action in health care according to the spirit of Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo: From treating diseases as the main thing to proactively preventing diseases. The health sector is facing many challenges such as increasing non-communicable diseases, population aging, climate change, new epidemic risks and mental health and nutrition issues.

The Minister affirmed that disease prevention is the responsibility of the whole society, in which people are the subjects. Each person needs to proactively protect their health with a scientific lifestyle, reasonable nutrition, ensuring food safety, limiting alcohol and tobacco, regularly exercising and maintaining a green and clean living environment.

Proactive disease prevention and improving the health of the whole population is the responsibility of the whole society.
Speaking to direct at the rally, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet emphasized that if we do not proactively prevent diseases, we will pay a very large price for costs, quality of life and national competitiveness.
Affirming that proactive disease prevention is not only a medical solution but a responsibility of the whole society, a requirement for national development in the new period, he set out 5 key tasks of proactive disease prevention and universal health care in the coming time, including:
First, raising awareness in the whole society about proactive disease prevention must become a long-term strategy, a responsibility of each individual, each family and the entire political system.
Second, build and strongly spread health culture throughout society.
Third, focus on developing preventive medicine and grassroots healthcare, ensuring that all people have access to quality, timely and convenient primary health care services.
Fourth, promote digital transformation in the health sector, apply big data, artificial intelligence in health forecasting and management; effectively deploy electronic health records.
Fifth, organize the National Health Day annually practically and effectively, associated with specific movements.
Every citizen should start from themselves, each family is a fortress for disease prevention, each agency and locality is a bright spot in community health care. Let's turn proactive disease prevention into a habit, self-awareness, and civilized lifestyle of every Vietnamese citizen" - Mr. Trinh Van Quyet emphasized.
Also at the rally, the Organizing Committee mobilized more than 300 doctors, nurses and medical staff from 19 central and local health facilities, private hospitals and armed forces, serving people. More than 5,000 people were examined, consulted, and screened for health for free. In particular, for the first time, a series of breakthrough AI solutions were introduced and operated in practice, contributing to changing the approach in primary health care.

More than 1,000 people have experienced automated screening methods and artificial intelligence systems that support health indicator analysis, risk assessment of non-communicable diseases and suggested personalized care recommendations.
The automatic health check-up kiosk area also allows people to measure their blood pressure, heart rate, and body indicators in just a few minutes, directly feeling the benefits of digital transformation and smart healthcare right in public spaces...
