On January 5th, at the waterfall area at the entrance to Terminal T2 - Da Nang International Airport, many passengers were surprised and excited by the presence of the majestic golden horse mascot. This is the opening work for the atmosphere of welcoming the upcoming Binh Ngo traditional Tet.
The golden horse mascot is about 5m tall, shaped in the "thien ly ma" posture, galloping with its hooves, its head high and its jaw flying backwards. Each muscle mass on the horse's body is meticulously processed by the artisan, exuding a full of energy and vitality.
The most special feature of the work is the golden "skin". According to research, the surface of the mascot is made up of about 150,000 small aluminum plates. All of these pieces are tailored and glued entirely by manual methods, creating a shimmering reflection effect, especially brilliant under the sun and colored lights at night.
To complete this work, the construction team had to work hard for more than a month. The internal structure is a solid load-bearing iron frame, covering the outside with more than 60m2 of specialized yellow aluminum sheets. Under the mascot's feet are also dotted with apricot and peach blossom branches, imbued with the breath of Vietnamese Tet.
The owner of the golden horse artwork is artisan Dinh Van Tam (from Quang Tri). This is also the author of mascots such as Tiger (Nham Dan), Cat (Quy Mao) and Dragon (Giap Thin).
Displaying mascots not only beautifies the airport architectural space but also sends a message of breakthrough, reaching far and luck in the new year of Binh Ngo.
