Accordingly, at 2:20 PM on August 3, 2026, the unit received a report from Ms. Sanh Thi Thu Van (resident of Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province) reporting that her son, Mr. N.H. A (born in 1988) was working as a fisherman on a fishing vessel in Ha Tien, vessel number AG-62009-TS owned and also captained by Mr. T.T. P (born in 1980).
The fishing boats going to rake together saw the AG-62009-TS ship still operating but running around, no one on board, in a position far from Mui Dat Do - An Thoi towards the West, suspecting that 2 people had fallen into the sea and went missing.
After receiving the news, the Unit Commander urgently reported to the Provincial Border Guard Command, and at the same time mobilized a working group, requisitioned people's canoes and 2 crew members to quickly maneuver to the above coordinates to verify and search.
The unit mobilized and notified surrounding fishing boats to release rakes to search for the 2 fishermen. After that, Comrade Commander of An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command continued to dispatch BP ship 20-12-06 and 10 comrades to mobilize to support the search. The force also called to inform the leaders of Phu Quoc special zone, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, search and rescue, and forces stationed in Phu Quoc to coordinate the search.
Forces and vehicles actively searched through the night in conditions of big waves and strong winds. On the morning of August 4, 1 body suspected of being the captain was discovered. The unit coordinated with forces and people to salvage and bring the victim's body to An Thoi fishing port. By the morning of August 5, the second body suspected of being N.H. A. was discovered.
Through verification, it was determined that the 2 bodies were indeed 2 fishermen on the ship AG-62009-TS that crashed into the sea. The unit has coordinated with forces and people to salvage and bring the victims' bodies to An Thoi port, coordinated with functional agencies to urgently carry out necessary legal procedures and support families to take care of the funerals for the 2 victims.
