On the afternoon of August 4, An Giang Provincial Police organized a Conference to implement Plan No. 328 of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on building Phu Quoc special zone into a "Model area for traffic safety".
According to the plan, the implementation time is from July 10 to December 31, 2026. The first phase focuses on building models on key traffic routes including: provincial road 973, provincial road 975B, road 30. 4, Nguyen Trung Truc road and Tran Hung Dao road.
The plan is implemented in 6 phases including: survey, assessment and planning; propaganda and mobilization; simultaneous launch of urban embellishment, traffic organization and implementation of solutions to ensure traffic order and safety; inspection, review, and evaluation of results; appraisal, recognition and announcement; maintenance, improvement of quality and replication of models.
In the process of implementation, units will focus on reviewing and completing traffic organization plans in the special zone in a synchronous, scientific and modern direction; increasing investment and supplementing road traffic sign systems, traffic lights, signs, and road markings; overcoming inadequacies in traffic organization, contributing to building a safe, smooth, and civilized traffic environment, meeting the travel needs of people and tourists.
In particular, building Phu Quoc special zone into a "Model Land for Traffic Safety" is identified as one of the key tasks to prepare the best conditions to serve APEC 2027 High-Level Week. Through improving infrastructure quality, organizing scientific traffic, ensuring traffic order and safety and building a civilized traffic lifestyle, Phu Quoc will gradually meet the requirements of serving high-level foreign affairs activities, creating an impression of a safe, civilized, modern and friendly destination for international friends and partners.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the advantages and difficulties, and at the same time proposed many solutions to improve the effectiveness of coordination between departments, branches and functional forces in the implementation process.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Colonel Huynh Thanh Lam, Deputy Director of An Giang Provincial Police, requested units and localities to closely follow the content of Plan No. 328 of the Provincial People's Committee, proactively coordinate to implement tasks according to the roadmap and progress set out; regularly inspect, urge, and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles arising during the implementation process.
Comrade emphasized that building Phu Quoc special zone into a "Model area for traffic safety" not only contributes to reducing accidents and traffic congestion, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of traffic order and safety, but also creates an important foundation to build the image of Phu Quoc as safe, civilized, modern, ready to serve APEC 2027 and important political and foreign affairs events of the country.
