The Bac Kan Provincial Stadium project and its supporting items were approved by the Bac Kan Provincial People's Committee in April 2023. The project officially started construction in mid-January 2024, on an area of over 20 hectares in Huyen Tung Ward, Bac Kan City.
The stadium has a capacity of about 8,000 seats and can be increased to 15,000 seats in the next phase. The project is expected to be put into use by the end of 2025.
On January 10, PV recorded that after 1 year of construction, the shape of the stadium has gradually appeared. At the large construction site, hundreds of workers and machinery have been mobilized to construct. The football field corridor area is being dug and leveled. Large volumes of soil and rocks are being leveled and transported from high to low positions.
The football field area has been shaped, and the construction of the stands has begun. At the locations where the ground is completed, construction and foundations are underway. Workers are installing and reinforcing the foundation steel to ensure compliance with the design.
According to the report from the construction unit, the project has a total of 3 construction packages. Of which, package 17 has an estimated construction volume of about 83.4%. Package 21, construction of ground leveling and drainage is estimated at 82%. The excavation and leveling part is being implemented, reaching 74% of the value. Package 26 is completing the shed, producing experimental piles according to the documents. Up to now, Bac Kan City has reclaimed over 165,000 m2 of land, paying over 51 billion VND for site clearance.
According to Mr. Vo Quoc Toan - Director of the Bac Kan City Construction Investment Project Management Board, this is one of the key projects of the locality. The stadium was designed based on the idea of the image of a rice husk boat in the legend of Ba Be Lake. The two sides of the main stand are designed with canvas roofs like sails overcoming the waves, combined with the shape of the famous Lung Nham rocky mountain range of Bac Kan province.
The field meets international football competition standards with an 8-lane pitch system for athletics competitions.
Bac Kan Provincial Stadium Project and auxiliary items, to ensure facilities to serve the needs of training and developing local sports talents.
At the same time, this will also be the place to organize provincial, regional, national sports tournaments and major events, contributing to making Bac Kan City a type II urban area in the future.
