Effectiveness of payment for forest environmental services
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2024, the total area of forests providing forest environmental services will reach more than 140,000 hectares.
The total revenue from this service is estimated at over 92 billion VND. Thereby, creating an important resource to support households and forest management organizations.
In particular, the program has contributed to reducing deforestation and increasing the forest cover rate of the whole province, reaching 39.5%.
The work of collecting and spending on reforestation was also carried out urgently and seriously. According to statistics, the total amount of money that hydropower investors paid into the provincial fund was over 260,394 million VND.
The average price for collecting money for reforestation is 81 million VND/ha. Up to now, the total amount of money for reforestation that investors have paid to the fund has reached 99.9%. Up to now, 156,040 million VND has been disbursed.
The results of the semi-flooded forestation projects also recorded positive results. The total planted area is 160,820 hectares. Currently waiting for the Department of Finance to appraise and approve the final settlement.
The effective implementation of payment for forest environmental services is very meaningful for Dak Nong. From this fund, forest owners have more funds to protect forests, prevent illegal logging and exploitation.
Planted 2,379.42 hectares of forest, reaching 119.9% of the plan
In 2024, according to the plan, Dak Nong will plant 1,983.84 hectares of forest. To date, forest owners and localities have planted 2,379.42 hectares, reaching 119.9% of the plan.
Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee also organized the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho and concentrated forest planting. Of which, scattered trees will be planted in 2024 with a quantity of 199,250 trees, equivalent to a converted area of 199.25 hectares.
Forest fire prevention work has been vigorously implemented. Since the beginning of 2024, the number of forest fires has decreased significantly, and damage has been kept to a minimum.
This is proof of the effective participation of local forest protection forces.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province has also issued many documents to guide and urge forest owners and organizations to develop sustainable forest management plans according to regulations.
As a result of the implementation, 15 units had their plans approved by the Provincial People's Committee. The total area is 202,522 hectares, accounting for 69% of the total forest area and land planned for forest development.
In the coming time, Dak Nong province will focus on effectively implementing the forest development plan in many forms: agroforestry, scattered tree planting, multi-purpose trees, zoning and promoting regeneration...
Along with that, the locality will develop the forest economy such as: Payment for forest environmental services; planting medicinal herbs under the forest canopy; exploiting non-timber forest products; developing macadamia trees and multi-purpose trees on forest land illegally cultivated and used by people; leasing forest environment, eco-tourism...
The province will also guide and urge localities and forest owners to proactively develop and implement forest development plans, forest fire prevention plans, forest lease plans; develop and organize the implementation of sustainable forest management plans, etc.
“In the coming time, Dak Nong will continue to promote forest protection through community education programs and the application of remote sensing - GIS technology in monitoring forest resource developments and warning of forest fires.
