Quang Binh - Facebook users posted fake news online during the flood, forcing authorities to verify.

In recent days, an account posted on Facebook about his family members being hungry and thirsty during the floods in Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province), but when the authorities verified, it was not true.

On the morning of October 30, an account named L.T.L.N posted on his personal Facebook page a status asking for help to feed his family in Uan Ao village (Lien Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) due to flooding over the past 2 days.

The status line with the words that make readers feel sympathy like: "Water is up to the roof, 2 days and 2 nights without food or water. Current situation is hunger, thirst and exhaustion so fell ill. My aunt and uncle's house is up to the roof but can't call for help because there is no one in this area."

After the information was posted, it received many likes and shares from social network users.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Pham Van Linh - Chairman of Lien Thuy Commune People's Committee said that when receiving the news, the authorities were completely surprised because the water had receded in most families since the morning of the same day. The area mentioned in the call for help was not deeply flooded. When the authorities sent people to check and verify, this family was still normal, proactively providing food for the past few days, there was absolutely no hunger or cold.

After asking for information, it was found that the person who posted the information was the couple's nephew. The local authorities asked the couple to contact the nephew to remove the information.

By the morning of October 31, according to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the weather in Quang Binh was sunny, the water level had gradually decreased, many places in Le Thuy district were still flooded, and people's lives were cared for and ensured by authorities at all levels.
