Fishermen support transporting relief goods to flood-hit Quang Binh

Quang Binh - Relief goods from benefactors will be transported by the government by specialized boats to people in flood-hit areas.

On the afternoon of October 29, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province) Le Van Son said that the locality has arranged two gathering points to receive goods from benefactors; one point at Cam Lien intersection, National Highway 1A (Cam Thuy commune) and the other point at Dong market (Mai Thuy commune).

According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Thuy district, the district has mobilized a number of local boats to bring relief goods to flooded areas.

“Since this morning, we have mobilized three fishing boats from Ngu Thuy Bac and Ngu Thuy communes to participate in the support. These boats are loaded with relief goods and move into deeply flooded areas to support people. The reason we use these boats is because when they go into residential areas to support people, they will not create waves, avoiding affecting people's infrastructure,” said Mr. Son.

Depending on the actual situation, if there is a lot of relief goods, local authorities will dispatch more fishing boats to help.

As of 11am on October 29, Le Thuy district still had 19,762 flooded households. Of which, Kien Giang town had 1,955 households, Thanh Thuy commune had 1,000 households, An Thuy had 2,800, Phong Thuy had 1,800, Son Thuy had 1,560, and Lien Thuy had 2,595.
