Maximizing the use of resources from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction has helped Son Duong district achieve positive results. The lives of local people have improved significantly. The highlight of the poverty reduction policy here is career guidance, promoting vocational training, and providing livelihoods for people.
In 2024, Son Duong district opened more than 18 vocational training classes and organized more than 5 job fairs. The fairs helped connect jobs for more than 5,367 workers, exceeding the set plan by 112.9%.
Through vocational training classes and job fairs, many ethnic minorities have access to units with recruitment needs. Once they have career orientation, their economy and life gradually stabilize.
Having been given a livelihood to develop the economy, Mr. Ly Van The is one of the typical households escaping poverty in Khe Thuyen 3 village, Van Phu commune, Son Duong district. Thanks to acquiring knowledge and techniques of forest planting, support for seedlings and livestock, his family's life has gradually stabilized.
"Previously, my family was in a difficult situation, but thanks to timely policies. We were supported with breeds, livestock, and shared experiences, so we were able to escape poverty. Our current income can cover our living expenses and take care of our family.
Creating livelihoods and giving fishing rods to poor and near-poor households is really meaningful. This can help reduce poverty sustainably. People with knowledge will not fall back into poverty. Those who have gone before will support those in more difficult circumstances to improve their lives," said Mr. The.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai (Tam Da commune, Son Duong district), thanks to taking advantage of the loan, her family has boldly planted grass and raised cows. Since then, the stable economy has helped to significantly improve their lives.
"When receiving loan support, the family boldly invested in economic development. Now, life has gradually stabilized. With a livelihood, poverty reduction will be more sustainable. In addition to taking care of the family and raising children, I can also help those in more difficult circumstances to improve their lives.
These programs are really meaningful. I hope they will be replicated to create a solid foundation for people to reduce poverty," Ms. Hoai confided.
According to Mr. Giang Tuan Anh - Chairman of Son Duong District People's Committee, despite many difficulties in implementing the National Target Programs, thanks to consensus and high determination, the support policies have significantly changed the appearance of the countryside and the lives of ethnic minorities. In particular, the way people think and work have had many positive changes.
In the 2021-2025 period, Son Duong district aims to create jobs for more than 16,700 workers and provide vocational training for over 7,500 people. Special economic models are focused on, ensuring practical support, contributing to bringing the poverty rate down to below 15% by the end of 2025.
Thanks to the right directions, Son Duong district has broken through to become a bright spot in poverty reduction work in Tuyen Quang.
