On the morning of October 29, the rain began to decrease in Quang Binh province, the flood water showed signs of decreasing, but for the people of the "flood center" of Le Thuy, last night was truly a sleepless night.
Late on October 28, the rain continued to pour down on the "flood center" of Le Thuy district, with gusts of wind and waves continuously crashing into houses. After more than a day of watching the water level, the people here are still waiting for the water level to gradually decrease.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (in An Xa village, Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) and her husband and mother were worried because about 30cm more water would reach the 2020 flood level. Everyone was holding their breath as the water rose day by day, while the electricity had been out since morning.

“The water rose so quickly that people didn’t have time to prepare. In 1 hour, the water rose nearly 1 meter, making it even more difficult to raise furniture,” said Ms. Lien.
The family's house is almost 2 meters higher than the street level. The motorbike is placed high in the house but is now almost completely submerged. The mother and her three children had to climb up to the attic to watch the flood.
Ms. Lien sighed: "A sleepless night, the water kept rising, making us even more worried. If this continues, the water level could exceed the flood peak of 2020."

Like Ms. Lien, Mr. Hoang Trong (Hoa Tan village, Cam Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) is also worried because the water level is rising quickly. His family's house is on the highest level in the area, but still faces the risk because by the evening of October 28, the water level started to rise quickly.
All the furniture in the house was placed high, but he was still worried because the water was rising steadily. About 30cm more water would reach the peak of the 2020 flood. Everyone was still waiting for the water level, taking turns to take a nap to stay healthy and continue to fight the flood.
Seen from above, communes like Loc Thuy, Lien Thuy, and Kien Giang town are submerged in water. Many households are submerged up to 3 meters deep.
In Loc Thuy commune, 1,236 households were flooded, and roads turned into rivers, completely paralyzed. The locality deployed the "4 on-site" plan to prevent and combat floods.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper, by the morning of October 29, the "flood center" of Le Thuy is currently flooded with nearly 20,000 houses. Some places with deep flooding include Kien Giang town with 1,955 households, An Thuy commune with 2,800 households, Phong Thuy with 1,800, Cam Thuy with 395, Son Thuy with 1,560, Lien Thuy with 2,595 households...
The Le Thuy district government is focusing all its efforts on responding to the flood and has provided initial relief. The district is prioritizing the evacuation of the most dangerous areas and focusing on distributing food and drinking water to the people.
