On the morning of September 5, 2026, Vietnam Railways Corporation officially opened ticket sales for Tet Dinh Mui 2027 train tickets for individual passengers. From early morning, many people were present at Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City stations to queue to buy tickets, worrying that good-time trains would quickly run out of seats.
Although at 8 am on September 5, 2026, the Tet train ticket sales system officially opened for widespread sale to individual passengers, right from early morning, some people gathered at Saigon station to wait to get a ticket number to buy tickets directly.
Sitting waiting in the lobby of the station very early, Ms. Le Thi Lan (43 years old, residing in Dong Thanh commune) said that she was present at Saigon station from 3 am to wait to buy round-trip tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa route. Due to not being familiar with technology, she chose to buy paper tickets directly at the station, instead of booking online.

Every year buying tickets directly is very hard and crowded, this year I see the station is much quieter, the procedures are convenient. Buying early like this is also worried that the company will not let you take a break, if you miss the date, ticket exchange and return will be very complicated," Ms. Lan shared.
Sharing the same psychology, Ms. Le Thi Han (resident of Binh Thuan ward, Ho Chi Minh City), a worker at a factory in Ho Chi Minh City, also arrived at Saigon station from 5 am to buy tickets to return to her hometown of Thanh Hoa. Because she is not familiar with technology, Ms. Han said that for many years she has chosen to go directly to the station to buy tickets.
This year, the first day of sale coincides with the opening day, so the waiting hall is quieter than every year. Usually, Tet tickets are only sold in mid-October, at that time the company has a clear holiday schedule, so it is very easy to buy," Ms. Han said.

Besides not knowing the exact holiday schedule, the time of opening Tet train ticket sales this year also coincides with the opening day of the new school year, causing many families with children going to school to balance additional expenses at the beginning of the school year.
For large families returning to their hometowns together, round-trip train ticket costs are also an item to consider. The total ticket price for the whole family can be up to tens of millions of VND, depending on the route and number of passengers.

At the beginning of September, my family has to prepare many expenses for my children to enter the new school year. Therefore, when buying Tet train tickets, the family also has to rebalance expenses accordingly," Ms. Le Thi Lan shared.
According to the latest information from the Railway industry, passengers who buy round-trip tickets will receive a 5% discount on the return ticket price. For some routes over 900 km, passengers who buy tickets 10 days or more in advance will also receive a 5-20% discount, depending on the flight and departure time.
According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, from 8 am on September 5th, about 300,000 train tickets for continuous journeys will be widely sold to passengers nationwide.
Passengers can buy tickets through the websites dsvn. vn, vetau. com. vn, vetauonline. vn, giare. vetau. vn; at stations, agents, official ticket sales points or through applications, e-wallets and banking applications. Passengers in Ho Chi Minh City can call the Saigon station ticket sales switchboard 1900 1520.
To limit speculation, each customer is allowed to book a maximum of 10 tickets for the departure route and 10 tickets for the return route. The Railway industry also reminds passengers to carefully check information before completing transactions and prioritize buying through official channels.
Information that Tet ticket buyers need to pay special attention to, especially in cases where they are not sure about the holiday schedule.
For personal tickets, passengers who want to return tickets during peak hours must do so at least 24 hours before the train departs. During this time, the ticket refund fee is 30% of the ticket price.
In addition to peak hours, personal prepaid tickets from 24 hours or more are charged 10% of the ticket price; prepaid tickets from 4 hours to less than 24 hours are charged 20%; less than 4 hours are not refunded. Personal tickets exchanged before train departure from 24 hours or more are charged 5% of the ticket price.
Therefore, for those who are not sure about their family or business's vacation schedule, considering the date of departure before buying a ticket is necessary to limit costs when having to change the itinerary.
