According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, from July 1 to 10, 2025, African swine fever occurred at 83 facilities, in 42 villages, in 11 communes and wards, with 529 sick pigs forced to be destroyed, with a total weight of nearly 29.5 tons.
In addition, there are 8 communes that are experiencing African swine fever, including: Tho Phong, Ba Gia, Tra Giang, Mo Cay, Tu Nghia, Son Tay Ha, Ve Giang, Truong Giang. Currently, these communes are coordinating with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to handle the outbreak and synthesize and report data.
Recently, complicated weather developments, interspersed rain and sunshine have caused the resistance of livestock to decrease, leading to epidemics in livestock. The epidemic mainly occurred in small-scale livestock households, did not perform well in sanitation, epidemic prevention, and livestock were not in the direction of biosafety.
Truong Quang Trong ward currently recorded more than 10 outbreaks, mainly concentrated in Doc Lap 1 residential group. By the morning of July 11, the locality had destroyed more than 140 pigs, with a total weight of more than 4 tons.

Along with the efforts of functional agencies and local authorities in implementing drastic measures to contain and control the epidemic, some households have thrown sick and dead pigs onto roads, canals, ditches, rivers, etc., causing environmental pollution, affecting health and increasing the risk of disease spread and outbreak.
This action not only pollutes the environment, affects people's health and increases the risk of disease spread and outbreak, but also violates the provisions of the Veterinary Law. This behavior can be fined from 5 to 6 million VND.
In the context of the African swine fever epidemic being forecast to continue to arise and spread, localities are focusing all resources to soon control and extinguish outbreaks, not allowing the epidemic to spread.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department requires communes, wards and special zones to establish teams to implement epidemic control measures such as: disinfection teams to kill poison, destroy sick and dead livestock; vaccination teams... to limit the risk of cross-infection.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen inspection and control of pig trading, transportation and slaughter in epidemic areas as well as throughout the area, ensuring that these activities are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the law on veterinary medicine. At the same time, widely inform about the epidemic situation in the locality so that livestock farmers clearly understand and proactively implement epidemic prevention and control measures to limit the outbreak of epidemics.
