7/5 Square, named after the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7, 1954), has an important position in the political, cultural and spiritual life of the people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province.
This is not only the starting point of many arterial traffic routes but also the venue for rallies, military parades, parades and major social events.

According to the assessment of the Dien Bien Department of Construction, with an area of about 16,000 m2, 7/5 Square currently only meets basic needs for event organization.
This space is not yet worthy of being the center of the urban form or the typical symbol of the province. Therefore, expansion is necessary to create a modern, solemn community living space and promote urban development.

According to actual records, the plan to expand 7/5 Square will be related to site clearance work, affecting agencies, units, as well as land plots of some households and individuals who have solid houses along Vo Nguyen Giap and Nguyen Chi Thanh streets.
Currently, the Dien Bien Department of Construction is giving opinions on the "7/5 Cultural Space" construction plan with a total estimated investment of up to 300 billion VND, including costs for demolishing existing works, compensation for site clearance and synchronous completion of technical infrastructure systems.

In addition to keeping the existing 16,000 m2 square yard, the project will expand an additional 33,000 m2 of new space.
In which, the expanded area includes: 1,150 m2 for the lake and fountain system, 17,500 m2 of stone-paved yards and pedestrian paths, 6,500 m2 of flower garden and green space...
Dien Bien Department of Construction said that the design plan to expand 7/5 Square is developed based on the idea of a "spiritual axis", which is both a cultural work and a spiritual space, entertainment, creating urban highlights.

The project is oriented to organize space into areas. Area 1 is the current square, continuing to be a place to organize political, cultural, and entertainment events...
Zone 2 plays the role of a "deposition" zone, transitioning from dynamic to static space. The highlight of this area is a large lake combined with a system of flower gardens and green trees.

Zone 3 is decorated with the main symbol of the square, with a stylized lotus bud. The image of the lotus rising from the mud symbolizes the strong vitality, steadfast will, and indomitability of our army and people in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. In particular, inside the lotus bud will embrace a burning flame.
Zone 4 bordering the Nam Rom River is arranged with a water music system combined with a green park system on the riverbank.
The project to expand 7/5 Square promises to put on a "new coat" of spaciousness and modernity for the center of Dien Bien province.
