At about 8:40 am on June 14, in the Van Boi area, Lan Ha Bay, Cat Hai special zone, Hai Phong city, a waterway collision occurred between Eco 86 HP-5665 tourist boat carrying 31 passengers and Bay Hoa motorboat HP-3847 carrying 11 passengers (total 42 passengers), causing Bay Hoa motorboat to sink.
Immediately after the incident occurred, people and Cat Hai Special Zone Police quickly deployed rescue work, bringing all 11 passengers on the distressed vehicle onto the Eco 86 ship and ashore safely. During the rescue process, Ms. N.T. N (born in 1983, residing in Hung Yen province) showed signs of shortness of breath, fainting and was taken to Cat Hai Medical Center for emergency treatment. After that, Ms. N died at about 9:10 am on the same day. In addition to the victim N.T. N who died, the remaining 41 passengers were safe and in stable health.
Currently, the cause of the incident is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies according to regulations.
