In the afternoon of March 14, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning systems showed that convective clouds are developing, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas.
Thunderstorms are appearing in areas including Vinh Loc commune, Tan Vinh Loc commune, Binh Loi commune, Xuan Thoi Son commune and Ba Diem commune.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas; then it is likely to spread to neighboring areas. Common rainfall is from 5-15 mm, in some places over 15 mm.
During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be wary of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (wind speed about 8-17 m/s). Heavy rain can cause localized flooding in some low-lying areas.
The cause of thunderstorms is due to wind convergence troughs existing in the area.
Weather forecast for the next 24-48 hours, continental cold high pressure will continue to weakly strengthen, shifting eastward to the Northern and Central regions, then operating stably. Northeast wind in the Southeast sea area will be maintained with moderate to strong intensity.
Weather pattern forecast for the next 3-10 days, the continental cold high pressure tends to gradually weaken. Meanwhile, the hot low pressure in the West is more active and gradually expands to the East.
Above, the subtropical high pressure is forecast to gradually strengthen from around March 17. The Northeast wind in the Southeast sea area maintains medium to strong intensity, after March 17 it tends to gradually decrease and become weak.
Due to the impact of the above weather patterns, the Southern region tonight and tomorrow will generally have little rain, especially the southwestern border area may have light showers in some places. Daytime is sunny, the sunshine time lasts about 6-8 hours; especially the eastern region has places with hot sunshine.
The lowest temperature is commonly from 23-26 degrees C. The highest temperature in the East ranges from 33-35 degrees C; in the West from 31-34 degrees C, in some places above 34 degrees C.
