In the afternoon of July 11, Standing Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Lo Van Cuong chaired an online conference on preparation for disaster response and recovery, connecting with 45 communes and wards.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, from the beginning of the year to July 9, Dien Bien experienced 22 natural disasters, affecting 42/45 communes and wards.

From July 1 to 9 alone, the post-storm circulation of storm No. 1 caused widespread heavy rain, affecting 204 houses, more than 62 hectares of rice flooded and landslides, 50 village roads were cut off, and many works were damaged. Total estimated damage is more than 13.5 billion VND.
Localities have mobilized police, military, militia and self-defense forces and people to overcome the consequences according to the "4 on-site" motto; and at the same time maintain duty shifts, review areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to proactively respond.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Lo Van Cuong requested to strengthen propaganda and warnings, and resolutely prevent people from collecting firewood and catching fish on rivers and streams during rain and floods.

Communes and wards must regularly inspect points at risk of landslides and prepare plans to evacuate people from dangerous areas.
He also requested to ensure that widespread power outages do not occur; urgently repair landslide-prone traffic routes, arrange machinery to be on duty at key points and study the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to serve rescue and relief work when necessary.
