Vehicle electrification - an irreversible trend

From the testing phase, electric motorbikes are entering explosive growth in Vietnam. Record sales, expanded distribution and changing consumer behavior show that electrification of personal vehicles is no longer a short-term trend, but an inevitable shift.

VinFast sets sales record - clear signal of the electrification wave

Vietnam's electric motorcycle market is recording unprecedented growth figures. In March 2026 alone, VinFast received more than 135,000 orders and rolled out more than 93,000 vehicles - the highest monthly sales figure ever. This is not just a milestone for the company alone, but clearly reflects that market demand is accelerating strongly.

Previously, in 2025, this company also achieved a growth rate of 473%, with more than 400,000 electric motorbikes sold. Among them, the Evo line with diverse versions has more than 250,000 vehicles delivered to customers, showing the increasing popularity of electric vehicles.

Notably, this growth is no longer localized. According to records from showroom chains, the number of customers interested in and spending money to buy electric vehicles has increased steadily month by month. Some dealers said that sales have increased 3-4 times compared to the previous period, forcing them to expand their business scale to meet demand.

Confidence in the market is also being strengthened. Many distributors assess that electric motorbikes may soon take the majority of market share in the near future, when infrastructure, products and consumer sentiment simultaneously reach their "falling point".

Electric motorbikes make breakthrough growth amidst gasoline price fluctuations

One of the important factors promoting the electrification wave is the fluctuation of gasoline and oil prices. In the context of unpredictable fuel prices continuously fluctuating, the cost of using gasoline cars has become a burden for many people, especially middle-income workers.

Conversely, electric motorbikes emerge as a more economical solution. Charging costs are significantly lower than refueling, while maintenance costs are also reduced due to simpler structure and less mechanical wear.

Not only the cost factor, policies to encourage green transition, along with sustainable development trends, contribute to reshaping consumer choices. Using electric vehicles is no longer a "new experience", but is gradually becoming an environmentally responsible choice.

In addition, new car models are increasingly having modern designs, longer travel distances, and shorter charging times. Some car lines support convenient battery replacement. Charging station and battery replacement station ecosystems are also increasingly expanded. Previous barriers such as concerns about running out of battery or lack of utilities have been removed.

Real-world records show that Vietnamese consumers are clearly changing their approach to electric motorbikes. If previously, most people only stopped at the level of "understanding" or "trying to buy", now many people have completely switched to long-term use.

Mr. Minh Tuan (Hanoi), an office worker, said he decided to switch to an electric car after many times of "wallet breaks" due to gasoline prices: "Every month I save a few hundred thousand VND on fuel. More importantly, traveling smoothly, without noise, feeling much more comfortable.

Meanwhile, Ms. Thu Ha (HCMC) highly appreciates the convenience factor: "Electric vehicles do not require oil change, rarely break down minorly. I have used them for more than a year and the maintenance cost is almost negligible.

Some young people see electric vehicles as part of a new lifestyle. Choosing environmentally friendly vehicles is not only for economic reasons, but also reflects personal awareness in the context of increasing urban pollution. Notably, the "fear of new technology" mentality is gradually disappearing. As more and more people use and share positive experiences, the spillover effect makes electric motorbikes more approachable and reliable.

VinFast makes cars methodically, with a system of warranty, maintenance, spare parts and synchronous infrastructure. Meanwhile, many other car lines are sold on a large scale, after only 1-2 years there are no replacement parts left, many of my regular customers return because the car they bought before is no longer supported" - Mr. Trinh Huy Hieu, owner of a chain of 16 electric motorbike showrooms in many provinces and cities shared.

Unstoppable trend

Synthesizing factors from the market, policies to consumer behavior shows that electric motorbikes in Vietnam are entering a "breakthrough point". High growth rates, strong participation of businesses, and changes in people's awareness are creating a new development cycle.

More importantly, this is no longer just a story of a brand or a short-term period. The electrification wave is forming a long-term trend, associated with the goal of reducing emissions, saving energy and developing sustainable urban areas.
