On September 14, speaking with Lao Dong, the leader of the People's Committee of Dong Xuan district (Phu Yen) confirmed that an electric shock incident had just occurred in the area, causing the tragic death of a father and son.
"When the incident was discovered, it was already dark so I assigned forces to protect the scene. This morning, the authorities examined the scene, performed an autopsy and handed over the body to the victim's family.
Initially, the police determined that the cause of death of the father and son was due to electrocution. The police are continuing to investigate and clarify the above incident," he said.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of September 13, Mang Thi Q (born in 2012, residing in Da Loc commune, Dong Xuan district - Cham ethnic group) and her friends went to herd cows in the area of Mo stream bank, behind the factory of Thanh Chau Phu Yen Granite Company Limited (Lang Truong village, Xuan Lanh commune).
At 5:00 p.m. the same day, not seeing Q return, Mr. Mang L (born in 1973) and his wife Mang Thi Noc (born in 1980) went to the above area to look for him. At around 6:00 p.m. the same day, discovering Q lying face down in Mo stream, Mr. L rushed down to save his son but was electrocuted.
Seeing her husband and daughter being electrocuted in the stream, Mrs. N immediately ran into Thanh Chau Phu Yen stone factory to request a power cut to save Mr. L and Q, but both died.
It is known that Thanh Chau Phu Yen Granite Company Limited, which was established in 2018, has the main business lines of quarrying stone, sand, gravel, clay and making granite. At the time of the incident, the factory's water pump was placed under Mo stream to pump water.
Dong Xuan District Police determined that the cause of Mr. L and Q's death was an electrical leak from the pump into the water.
