On November 22, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, people on both banks of the Red River in Muc village, Thai Nien commune (Bao Thang - Lao Cai) were able to easily and conveniently move on Lang Giang bridge.
It is known that the Lang Giang bridge project is invested by the Department of Transport - Construction of Lao Cai, with a total cost of 258 billion VND.
The construction unit is Quyet Tien Construction Investment Corporation. This bridge connects the two banks of the Red River between Xuan Tang Ward and Thai Nien Commune (Bao Thang District), Provincial Road 161 and National Highway 70. In 2022, this bridge was officially closed and is now in use.
Although the bridge has been completed for a long time, the construction of the approach road to Lang Giang bridge, with a length of more than 1.2 km and a value of 55.6 billion VND, has not yet been completed.
Through research, the approach road is an adjusted and supplemented item of the Lang Giang bridge project.
According to the design, the section from Lang Giang bridge to the railway overpass has a 25 m wide roadbed and 15 m wide road surface; the section from behind the railway overpass to the end of the intersection with Provincial Road 161 has a 33 m wide roadbed and 15 m wide road surface; the railway overpass has 1 span 33 m long and 19 m wide.
The project is undertaken by the joint venture of Minh Duc General Construction Company Limited and Lao Cai Construction and Inspection Joint Stock Company. This connecting road item started construction on April 25, 2023 and is expected to be completed on December 25, 2023.
Actual observations show that, although there is only a relatively short section left to complete, this connecting road is still unfinished.
At the construction site, excavators and rollers are being used to level and compact the roadbed. Workers are installing a drainage system.
Mr. Ly Van Son (residing in Thai Nien commune, Bao Thang district) said: “Every day I go to work via Lang Giang bridge and this road. The connecting road is only a short section of a few hundred meters away from completion, but it has not been completed for a long time. Machines and workers are still working, but people say that some households have not agreed, so it remains unfinished like that.”
According to Mr. Son, people hope that authorities at all levels will soon resolve the problems related to resettlement and land compensation of people along the route so that the road can be completed quickly, making travel more convenient and less dusty.
Explaining why the connecting road worth 55 billion VND has not been completed yet, Mr. Chu Duc Hai - Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board of Lao Cai province said: "The road leading from Lang Giang bridge to Provincial Road 161 has a section of about 400 m but is stuck in the land clearance. Currently, there are 3 households who have not agreed on compensation and resettlement, so construction cannot continue."
According to Mr. Hai, the machines and workers are available, just waiting for the land to continue the implementation. Currently, the local government is propagating, mobilizing the people, and coordinating to remove obstacles. This will help synchronize traffic and make the roads through this area cleaner.
