The project of connecting National Highway 32 with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (IC15) (Dong An - Gia Hoi road) was approved by the Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee in 2020, with a total investment of 546 billion VND.
The project started construction in January 2022 with the Yen Bai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
According to the design, the route has a level IV mountainous scale according to Vietnamese standards with a total length of 43.5km connecting from the western to eastern districts of Yen Bai.
The project has its starting point at the intersection with National Highway 32 in Gia Hoi commune, Van Chan district and its ending point at the intersection with Provincial Road 166 in Dong An commune, Van Yen district.
Once completed, the route is expected to promote the tourism potential of the western region of Yen Bai province.
At the same time, it opens up new opportunities for ethnic minority and mountainous areas in stabilizing the population associated with promoting economic development, ensuring social security, and reducing poverty quickly and sustainably.
According to Lao Dong's report on November 22, at the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway connecting route, dozens of machines and workers are working hard to complete the project on schedule.
Mr. Dao Duc Minh (32 years old, Dong An, Van Yen) said he hopes the road will be completed soon, so that people's travel will be more convenient.
"The unfinished roads are very difficult to travel on, the mud mixed with gravel and rocks always makes the car tilt, very dangerous," said Mr. Minh.
According to the representative of the Yen Bai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project consists of 5 construction packages, with a total contract value of over 335 billion VND. To date, the estimated implementation value is 204 billion VND, equal to 61% of the contract value.
"The site clearance work is still stuck in some sections of the route with a total length of 1,648m. At the same time, due to the impact of storm No. 3, there were 63 landslides along the route. The Board has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize the repair, however, there are still 19 locations at risk of further landslides affecting the stability of the route, posing a potential risk of insecurity," the representative informed.
Recently, during the project progress inspection, Permanent Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Phuoc emphasized that the road connecting National Highway 32 with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (IC15) is a key project, so it is necessary to speed up construction progress and put it into use soon.
At the same time, the investor is required to work with contractors on construction progress and solutions; regularly check, supervise and urge progress; have solutions to solve difficulties for contractors...
Along with that, Van Yen and Van Chan districts are requested to urgently have a plan to remove obstacles with the remaining cases. At the same time, focus on directing strongly and need to have solutions to flexibly handle the site clearance work, and promptly hand over to the construction unit.
