From September 28, 2026, pensioners, allowances and social security benefits can receive money through the Social Security Benefit Account on VNeID. This is a noteworthy new point in Decree 320/2026/ND-CP of the Government, contributing to digitizing social security payment activities in a more convenient and transparent direction.
To support the elderly in accessing social security benefits on digital platforms, union members and youth of Giang Vo ward (Hanoi) organize guidance points to support cases facing difficulties in using smartphones.
According to information from the Giang Vo Ward Youth Union force, about 100 union members and youth from directly affiliated branches, the Community Digital Technology Team, and unit 2 of the school (Nguyen Trai High School, Pham Hong Thai High School) were mobilized and on duty in shifts to guide people.
Through peak campaigns, by September 21, union members had directly supported, guided and answered questions for more than 100 turns of elderly people and people in the area.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cao Duc Anh - Secretary of the Youth Union of Nguyen Trai High School, one of the major difficulties when implementing is that many elderly people are not used to using smartphones or are confused when operating on digital applications.
In these cases, union members guide each step, directly operate the model and explain it in a easy-to-understand way so that the elderly can grasp the basic operations on VNeID or iHanoi," Mr. Duc Anh said.
For those who do not have smartphones at all or cannot operate on their own, support forces coordinate with families and functional units to guide them to follow the correct procedures.
''Cases of elderly people who have difficulty walking and are sick are also listed for union members to coordinate with ward police and residential groups to provide direct support at home'', Mr. Nguyen Cao Duc Anh said.
According to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao - Secretary of the Youth Union of Pham Hong Thai High School, union members accompanying the elderly in the process of accessing digital services not only helps solve an immediate need but also contributes to narrowing the digital gap between generations.
The important thing is to help the elderly become less hesitant and unfamiliar when accessing technology. When guided directly, the elderly can understand and be more confident in using applications to serve life," Ms. Thao said.
According to Ms. Thao, supporting the elderly to access pensions, allowances and social security benefits through digital platforms also contributes to helping people save travel time, limit paperwork and access more convenient administrative services.
The activity is also an opportunity for union members and youth to promote their pioneering role in digital transformation, while creating cohesion between generations in the community.
