On August 13, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Quang Tri province held a send-off ceremony, assigning tasks to Team 584, Political Department, Provincial Military Command (CHQS) to perform the task of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains who sacrificed in Laos in the dry season 2026 - 2027.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Van Bao - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for searching, gathering and identifying martyrs' remains of Quang Tri province; Colonel Truong Viet Hai - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee; Ms. Le Thi Thanh - Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee, along with representatives of departments, branches, and units.
At the ceremony, Colonel Truong Viet Hai announced the decision of Military Region 4 on assigning 30 officers of Team 584, Provincial Military Command to perform the task of surveying, searching for, and repatriating the remains of martyrs who are experts and Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed in Laos.
The duty period is from August 13, 2026 to July 11, 2027.
Implementing the decision of Military Region 4, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command has directed agencies and units to arrange organizations and personnel accordingly; organize training, professional development and prepare logistics, equipment, and medical supplies.
Up to now, the preparation work of Team 584 has been completed. Officers and soldiers are ready to set off to Savannakhet province, Laos to perform tasks according to plan.
Speaking to assign tasks, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Van Bao said that the 2026-2027 dry season task is being implemented in conditions that are still facing many difficulties and challenges.
According to Mr. Le Van Bao, the duration of this year's dry season task is nearly 4 months longer than previous batches, while the assigned target is higher than in previous years, with the requirement to search for and repatriate 50 sets of martyrs' remains.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested officers and soldiers of Team 584 to promote the qualities and traditions of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", identifying the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains as a particularly important political task.
Team 584 needs to organize forces tightly; carefully study the area, records, documents, maps and information from witnesses; combine field surveys with collecting and verifying information sources and applying appropriate science and technology to improve search efficiency.
Along with that, the unit needs to attach importance to mass mobilization work, take advantage of the leadership, coordination and support of Party committees, authorities, armed forces and local people in Laos; ensure the lives, health, and safety of officers and soldiers and strictly comply with regulations in the working area.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee, the Provincial Military Command, the Department of Home Affairs and many agencies and units presented gifts, materials and pharmaceuticals to encourage officers and soldiers of Team 584.
The Quang Tri Provincial Fund for Support "For the Poor" Mobilization Board awarded 50 million VND to support Team 584 in carrying out mass mobilization work during its mission in Laos.
