No more fear every time there is a storm or flood
Lunar New Year 2025 is the first Tet that Ms. Doan Thi Man (residing in Hanh Minh commune, Nghia Hanh district) celebrates in a new house. Ms. Man is 60 years old, her husband passed away early, she and her daughter and two grandchildren live in a seriously degraded house. The joy seemed to explode when Ms. Man received support of 50 million VND from a business, and the People's Committee of Hanh Minh commune mobilized to support an additional 100 million VND for her family to build a new house. After 3 months of construction, Ms. Man's house was completed.
Ms. Doan Thi Man confided: “The old house was dilapidated, so it was very hot in the dry season, and in the rainy season I was always afraid that the house would collapse, so when I received 150 million VND in support, I managed to scrape together a little more to build a house. Seeing the newly built house, I cried tears of joy. This is the first time in my life that I have owned and lived in a solid, clean and beautiful house.”
Similarly, the new house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Do, in Hanh Trung commune, Nghia Hanh district, is also in the completion stage. Ms. Do’s family is poor and has to live in a dilapidated old house. The desire to have a new house is the dream of Ms. Do’s family, but that dream has been put on hold from year to year, because all the money they earn is spent on treating their daughter’s serious illness.
Understanding her difficulties and hardships, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanh Trung Commune and Hanh Trung Primary School have tried their best to mobilize businesses and people to join hands to help Do's family. The total amount of money mobilized is 120 million VND, helping Do to build a new house and cover medical expenses for her daughter.
Ms. Do confided: “The old house was dilapidated, so every time there was a storm, the whole family was afraid that the house would collapse and did not dare to sleep at night. Now that I have received financial support to build a new house, I am so happy that I cried. The new house will be completed before Tet this year, so the whole family will have a warmer and more prosperous Tet.”
