On October 11, Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company said that it had completed the closure of the self-opened path at Km 1668 + 550 in Hung Thinh Commune, Dong Nai Province.
Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company has coordinated with local authorities to mobilize and receive volunteer donations from households about 1,400 m2 of land and cut down trees for harvest such as cashew, jackfruit, plum... After that, Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company invested about 100 million VND to build a fence, mobilized leveling vehicles about 200 m long to build a service road to connect to the level crossing with a guard at Km 1668+357, thereby ensuring traffic safety.
Previously, a self-opened path at Km 1668+550 had a traffic accident at 2:59 p.m. on June 26, 2025, killing 1 person. In 1998, an accident also occurred in this area, killing 1 person.
Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company said that this is the 12th self-opened crossing to be closed in 2025 in Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces (now Lam Dong province), completing the target assigned by Vietnam Railway Corporation. The company continues to proactively coordinate with Dong Nai and Lam Dong localities to gradually eliminate all self-opened paths according to the Prime Minister's decision.
Previously, on October 7, at Bien Hoa station (Dong Nai province), Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company worked with the Traffic Safety Committee of Dong Nai province, People's Committee, and Police of communes and wards of Dong Nai province including Xuan Loc, Hung Thinh, Trang Bom, Tam Hiep, Tran Bien, and Bien Hoa on preventing train accidents at self-opened crossings that the locality is blocking.
According to statistics, at the self-opened path at Km 1692+305, Tam Hiep ward, Dong Nai province (due to local security forces), there were 5 consecutive incidents of trains running through but not opening or late closing road barrier. Although the above incidents have not caused accidents, they are repetitive and pose a very high risk of causing railway traffic disasters at this intersection.
At the meeting, representatives of the People's Committee and the Police of communes and wards in Dong Nai province said that the current income of human resources working in security work is very low and recommended that there should be solutions to increase income, increase responsibility for people working in security work; at the same time, recommended adding signs, bells, lights... to warn people.
The representative of the Traffic Safety Committee of Dong Nai province also requested communes and wards to rectify, organize security, ensure railway traffic safety at level crossings, self-opened crossings...
