The Center for Earthquake and Storm Warning Newspapers and the Earth Sciences Institute issued a notice of a 3.7-magnitude earthquake at the location with coordinates (14.794 degrees North latitude, 108.309 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.2km occurring at 10:48 a.m. on June 22, 2025. According to the coordinates, the earthquake occurred in Kon Plong district (Kon Tum). Natural disaster risk level 0.
Previously, on June 20, this area had 3 consecutive earthquakes with a strength of 3.1-3.3, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km. Earthquakes in Kon Plong district are considered stimulus earthquakes; occurring frequently and continuously since 2021.
Since April 2021, hundreds of earthquakes have occurred in Kon Tum, concentrated in Kon Plong district, of which the earthquakes caused widespread shaking. The largest was the 5-degree earthquake that occurred at noon on July 28, 2024, before that on August 23, 2022, it was a 4.7 degree earthquake.
According to preliminary studies, the earthquake in Kon Tum is forecast to continue in the coming time, but it is unlikely to be greater than 5.5 degrees. However, more detailed studies are still needed to assess land activities in this area.
