On the morning of March 14, at the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Area, many working delegations from the Central Government and localities organized an incense offering ceremony to commemorate 64 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy.
They bravely sacrificed themselves in the Gac Ma Battle of 1988 to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

According to records, in the morning of the same day, about 2,500 people, relatives of martyrs and working delegations from many localities across the country came to pay respects.
Despite the heavy rain, the crowd still solemnly lined up, successively offering incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs.

At the memorial ceremony, delegates reviewed the tragic historical event, recalling the courageous spirit of the Navy soldiers who sacrificed themselves to protect the sacred sea and island sovereignty of the Fatherland.
35 years ago, on March 14, 1988, at Gac Ma Reef in the Truong Sa Archipelago, Vietnamese Navy soldiers bravely stood in a circle to protect the national flag planted on the island, affirming Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty.
