Today, January 15, the Phu My 2 bridge project officially grounded. This is a project in the series of activities to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party, affirming the strong political determination of the Party Committee, Government and People of Ho Chi Minh City in completing a synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure system. Thereby, contributing to the effective implementation of the Adjustment of the General Planning of Ho Chi Minh City to 2040, vision to 2060, making Ho Chi Minh City the economic, financial, and service center of Asia, the driving growth pole of the South and the whole country.

Phu My 2 bridge has a total length of about 6.3 km, including the bridge section and the access road system, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is about 4.6 km long, and the section through Dong Nai province is 1.7 km long.
The starting point of the project is on Nguyen Huu Tho street - a vital traffic axis of the South of Ho Chi Minh City.
The total investment of the project is more than 23,000 billion VND, implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BT contract (build - transfer).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that Phu My 2 bridge when completed will open up a new development direction between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, and at the same time create a direct traffic route connecting Long Thanh International Airport. The project is expected to help reduce logistics costs by 30-40%, increase international investment attraction and save millions of hours of travel per year for people.
The City People's Committee is committed to closely directing and closely coordinating with departments, branches and localities to ensure that the project is implemented on schedule, meeting technical standards and absolute safety. We also request relevant units to effectively implement site clearance work, support affected people in a humane and transparent manner, ensuring harmony of interests between the State, people and businesses," Mr. Dinh said.

Present at the groundbreaking ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (resident of Phu Thuan ward) could not hide her emotion when the Phu My 2 bridge project officially started groundbreaking right in the atmosphere of emulation to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party. Ms. Hang expressed: "I am very excited to witness the city start construction, groundbreaking many large projects on this special occasion. Hopefully, the project after completion will become a driving force to promote urban traffic and the city's economy to develop even stronger".
Notably, Phu My 2 bridge is the first project in Ho Chi Minh City to apply the multi-layered road solution, including an underground road combined with two floors of elevated bridges. This solution was chosen because some sections of the route, especially the Hoang Quoc Viet road area, have narrow road boundaries, not meeting the requirements for road expansion according to the traditional plan.

The project is expected to be completed in 2029. When put into operation, Phu My 2 bridge will share traffic pressure for the existing Phu My bridge, while creating more convenient connectivity from the South of Ho Chi Minh City to the Southeast provinces and Long Thanh airport.
