On January 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced a plan to coordinate traffic regulation at Cat Lai ferry terminal to serve the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cat Lai bridge construction project.
Accordingly, in two time frames from 0:00 to 5:00 on January 14 and from 9:00 on January 14 to 5:00 on January 15, 2026, cars with a tonnage of 8 tons or more will be prohibited from traveling through Cat Lai ferry.
During the prohibition period, vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai are guided to circulate according to alternative routes: Ho Chi Minh City - Mai Chi Tho street - Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway - 319 road - Nhon Trach Industrial Park (Dong Nai province).
In addition, vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City to Nhon Trach commune are also advised to choose the route: Hanoi Highway - Vung Tau intersection - National Highway 51 - 25B road - Nhon Trach commune center, or proactively choose other traffic directions suitable to their needs and actual conditions.
In the opposite direction, vehicles from Nhon Trach commune (Dong Nai province) to Ho Chi Minh City are recommended to travel according to the route: Ly Thai To street - Quach Thi Trang street - 25B street (or Hung Vuong street) - National Highway 51 - Ho Chi Minh City highway - Long Thanh - Dau Giay to enter the city center.
For light trucks and motorbikes, traffic participants can travel along the internal roads of Dai Phuoc commune to access the auxiliary wharf (small house) of Cat Lai station, and at the same time comply with the instructions of functional forces in the area.
The Cat Lai bridge project has a total length of about 11.6 km, of which the main bridge is 3 km long, with a scale of 8 lanes, and a designed speed of 80 km/h.
The starting point of the project is on Nguyen Thi Dinh street, Cat Lai ward (HCMC) and the ending point is in Dai Phuoc commune (Dong Nai).

Cat Lai bridge has a preliminary total investment of about 18,300 billion VND, excluding loan interest during construction. The investor will arrange all capital sources, including equity and loan capital; in return, it is paid with revenue from land auctions managed by the State or with public investment capital.
The project was selected as an investor under a special mechanism because it belongs to the urgent project group, which needs to be implemented soon to serve Long Thanh airport, strengthen inter-regional traffic connections, and create motivation to promote socio-economic development for Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
