According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on July 12, in the landfill area, garbage burning activities are still taking place at the incinerator location. The landfill is still open and there are vehicles carrying garbage for collection.
People are particularly worried if this situation continues, because not only the lives of households are affected, but the learning activities of hundreds of students may also be affected. Because the landfill is only a few hundred meters away from Hoang Truong Kindergarten and Primary School.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Xuan Hoan - Chairman of Hoang Tien Commune People's Committee said that the locality has grasped the information and assigned functional forces to inspect, verify, and propose handling measures.
Mr. Le Duy Trong - Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Hoang Tien commune - said: "Previously, the old Hoang Hoa District People's Committee issued a roadmap to close the landfill in 2025. However, so far, the locality has not had a replacement waste treatment plan, while the waste management and treatment contract between the district and the enterprise is still valid until 2027. Therefore, the landfill is still continuing to receive and treat waste.
Also according to Mr. Trong, regarding the incident of smoke and odor spreading a few days ago, after receiving feedback from people, the locality has requested the landfill operating unit to handle it.
