According to information from the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) on the afternoon of October 14, according to a report from Long An Power Company (PC Long An), at 5:27 p.m. on October 13, a drone used by a local to spray pesticides got caught in the wire at poles 146-147 of the 174 Cai Lay - 171 Tan Thanh line. The incident caused a power outage on the 110kV 174 Cai Lay - 171 Tan Thanh line and two 110kV transformer stations Moc Hoa and Vinh Hung; disrupting the power supply to about 76,000 customers in the districts of Tan Thanh, Moc Hoa, Vinh Hung, Tan Hung and Kien Tuong town.
As soon as the incident occurred, PC Long An immediately deployed the work to fix and transfer the power source. By 6:09 p.m., PC Long An had restored power to the majority of affected customers in Tan Thanh, Moc Hoa, Vinh Hung, and Tan Hung districts; by 10:41 p.m., power had been restored to all customers affected by the incident.
PC Long An also coordinated with local police to draw up a record of administrative violations against the device operator; at the same time, clarify the cause of the incident and the device's flight license.
According to PC Long An, in recent times, the unit has always paid special attention to ensuring the safety of high-voltage power grid corridors. In 2024, the company worked with 148/148 customers with drones (100% rate) to warn about high-voltage power grid safety when using flying devices.
The company has also carried out propaganda and posted warning signs "No drones allowed to fly into power lines" to ensure the safety of the power grid corridor: placing 115 signs along the 110kV power line with the content "No drones allowed to fly into power lines"; working with landowners with 110kV power lines passing through to warn drones when hiring them to spray pesticides, spread fertilizers, etc.; creating skits related to electrical safety to widely propagate on mass media...
Since the beginning of 2024, on the power grid managed and operated by the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), there have been 2 power grid incidents due to the use of flycam/drones that violated safety distances, causing electric discharge.
To ensure the safety of people and the safety of the power grid, Southern Power Corporation recommends that organizations and individuals absolutely do not perform prohibited acts according to Article 14, Decree 36/2008/ND-CP.
