On August 22, the People's Committee of Giang Thanh district (Kien Giang) said that the Ha Giang canal anti-erosion embankment had previously experienced ground subsidence, and the locality had requested the construction unit and the supervision consultant to remove it. Remove tiles and complete construction again.
It is known that the Ha Giang canal anti-erosion embankment, more than 3km long, passing through Giang Thanh district, suffered serious landslides. After the incident occurred, representatives of the investor, construction unit, and supervision unit recorded the scene, warned of danger, and erected fences. At the same time, machinery and workers also unloaded soil in 3 segments at risk of landslides to reduce the load, conduct geological surveys, and provide remedial measures and stabilize the entire embankment line.
According to Giang Thanh District People's Committee, the Ha Giang canal anti-erosion embankment project was invested 80 billion VND and has been in use for more than 5 months.
The embankment project from Giang Thanh district administrative center to Dam Chit residential area (Tan Khanh Hoa commune, Giang Thanh district) is more than 3km long with auxiliary systems such as walking sidewalks, trees, and drainage system. , lighting... completed construction in 18 months, accepted and put into use from March 11, 2024.
However, by July 2024, the embankment had subsidence of sidewalk tiles. On August 5, 2024, a section of the embankment nearly 70 meters long suffered serious landslides, making people worried.
Giang Thanh District People's Committee also said that previously, the project had a phenomenon of ground subsidence, the locality requested the construction unit and the supervision consultant to dismantle the tiles and complete the construction again.
The locality requests the supervision consultant to be regularly present at the construction site during the remediation process and promptly report to the investor any arising problems.
