The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14B through Da Nang was started in November 2023 and was approved by the Ministry of Transport with a total investment of more than 788 billion VND. The project starts at Hoa Nhon commune and ends at Hoa Khuong commune (Hoa Vang district) with a total route length of 7.58 km. This project is currently being implemented on the scale of an urban main road, including 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles.
To date, site clearance work has been completed with nearly 80% of compensation documents approved. Regarding construction, bridge, culvert, and road surface items are being implemented synchronously, although construction progress is slow in some sections due to lack of personnel and equipment. The project is expected to be completed in 2025, and efforts are being made to accelerate disbursement and strengthen construction work to ensure progress.
Previously, last August, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City, Vo Nguyen Chuong, said that the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14B, Da Nang City, due to historical reasons, this National Highway had no sidewalks, at the time of construction and completion of the road in 2005.
"Households living on both sides of the road have a difference in elevation of 0.5 - 4.0m. Therefore, to access the road, the household owner must fill the ground with soil to raise the ground. Furthermore, most households living on both sides of the road do business.
Therefore, households built expansions on the recovered and compensated area of old 14B and on the area of traffic safety corridor to do business" - Vo Nguyen Chuong said.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City has reported to the City People's Committee and proposed that the City People's Committee agree on the policy of supporting dismantling and relocation equivalent to 20% of the value of compensated assets.
